Bank of England hikes key rate to 4.75%

英国の中央銀行、バンク・オブ・イングランドは、短期金利を４．７５％に引き上げた。

欧州中央銀行の利上げは予想どおりだったが、バンク・オブ・イングランドの金利引き上げは予想されていなかった。この利上げは、こう説明されている。

The Bank of England explained that the pace of economic activity as quickened in the past few months, and that higher energy prices have led to greater inflationary pressures.

引き上げの理由は二つある。

１、最近の経済成長速度が増してきた。
２、エネルギーコスト上昇でインフレの心配がある。
